Each year, the Claims Conference offers fellowships for doctoral and postdoctoral candidates around the world conducting newly uncovered archival Holocaust research. Eligible emerging and early career scholars in History, Sociology, Jewish Studies, Political Science, Philosophy, Theology, Women’s Studies, and others pursue the advanced study of the systematically targeted destruction and persecution of Jews by the Nazis and their allies between 1933 and 1945 (and the immediate postwar period). Supported research can include: the immediate historical context in which the Holocaust took place; political, economic, legal, religious, or socio-cultural aspects; ethical and moral implications; or other related, relevant topics.

The Claims Conference has partnered with Westat, a research firm based in Maryland, to conduct the National Landscape Study of Holocaust Education in U.S. Institutions of Higher Education. This study will assess the current landscape of Holocaust-related coursework and academic programs at U.S. colleges and universities. If you are a director of an education program that offers Holocaust-focused credentials and you would like to participate in the study via a virtual interview, please reach out to HolocaustEducationStudy@westat.com with your name, role, and the name of your program. Directors will receive a small honorarium as thanks for their participation.
