Building on our legacy of backing impactful Holocaust education initiatives, the Claims Conference is proud to partner with the Leo Baeck Institute (LBI) to support the return of Exile, the award-winning podcast produced with Antica. This project represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to amplify the voices and stories of those affected by the Holocaust, contributing to a broader understanding of history and fostering empathy across generations.
Season three of Exile promises to engage audiences in exploring the untold stories of Jewish lives in the shadow of fascism, narrated by renowned actor and activist Mandy Patinkin. The firsthand accounts shed light on the experiences of ordinary German-speaking Jews preserved in the LBI archives, now shared with a broader audience. Our support of Exile underscores our commitment to amplifying survivor voices and growing Holocaust education opportunities.
The podcast employs a unique format, blending Patinkin’s emotive narration with voice actors reading primary sources and interviews with scholars, descendants and witnesses. This approach earned Exile two Signal Awards in 2023, reflecting its excellence in the General Documentary and General History categories.
The first episode of season three of Exile was released on July 16, and the season will run until August 20, 2024. We look forward to sharing these compelling stories with you through the popular podcast medium. Check out all released episodes of Exile by clicking here.
We are grateful for our partnership with the Leo Baeck Institute, to Mandy Patinkin for lending his talent and for all those involved in the production of Exile, which brings to life these firsthand accounts of Jews living under the repression of the Nazi regime. These stories are critical not only as cautionary tales but also for the inspiration they provide from survivors and heroes of the Holocaust.
