Research

The Claims Conference supports original Holocaust research, scholarly publications in print and digital formats, and the translation of significant works, and values free, open access to materials online to ensure greater reach and accessibility.

Support may be awarded to original research projects that:

  • Expand scholarly understanding of the Holocaust
  • Focus on the Jewish experience and perspective
  • Are grounded in rigorous academic and/or archival methodologies
  • Contribute new insights, documentation, or analysis
  • Deepen understanding of trends in Holocaust denial, distortion and inversion
  • Study the effectiveness of educational initiatives and approaches
  • Examine both the threats and opportunities that emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence (AI)—present for Holocaust research, education, and documentation

Funding may also be available for online or print publications, including:

  • Scholarly books or monographs
  • Edited volumes
  • Peer-reviewed journals or journal special issues
  • Digital publications, online editions, or research platforms
  • Print or hybrid digital–print dissemination

Support may also be available for translation of existing Holocaust research that has been identified as:

  • Significant for Holocaust studies and lacking broad accessibility
  • Foundational but currently under-accessed due to language barriers
  • Valuable for researchers, academic communities, educators and students
