Statement of Values

As Approved by the Claims Conference Leadership Council, November 5, 2025

The mission of the Claims Conference is to secure a measure of justice for Holocaust survivors and preserve the memory of the Shoah. The following values serve as the foundation of our work, guiding our efforts and funding:

1. We remain steadfast in our mission to uphold the rights and dignity of Holocaust survivors.

2. We honor and support survivors by advocating for their well-being and by striving for the care, recognition, and respect they deserve.

3. We pursue rightful compensation and restitution for Holocaust survivors and heirs, ensuring that the atrocities of the past are recognized.

4. We are committed to preserving and honoring the memory of the men, women, and children who were murdered in the Shoah, as well as of the destroyed Jewish communities, and seek to ensure that their memory remains firmly embedded in the consciousness of humanity through Holocaust education of Jews and the wider population

5. We are dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of the Shoah, ensuring that its history is accurately preserved while vigorously opposing all forms of Holocaust denial, distortion, trivialization, and Holocaust inversion (equating the State of Israel with Nazi Germany, or characterizing Israelis and/or Jews generally as Nazis), including misuse of symbols of the Holocaust.

6. We affirm the importance of Holocaust education as an approach to challenge antisemitism and affirm the importance of teaching about antisemitism in the context of the rise of Nazism.

7. We recognize the profound significance of the State of Israel to the survivor community, embodying both the fulfillment of a historic yearning and the creation of a haven after the Holocaust.

8. We recognize the contributions of survivors to the building and strengthening of the State of Israel and of Jewish communities worldwide.

9. We honor the courage of the righteous rescuers who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust and whose legacy the Claims Conference seeks to uphold and support.

10. We embrace the partnership of our Jewish and non-Jewish allies and friends who stand with us in advancing our mission.

11. Through our mission and actions, we endeavor to help shape a better future that reflects the lessons of the Shoah.

12. We uphold the highest ethical standards in all our efforts, ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of resources.

13. We conduct all aspects of our work with dignity, humility, integrity, and respect for others.
