Important Update: Ghetto Pension Guide for Holocaust Survivors

The June 30, 2003 deadline to be eligible for a retroactive German Social Security payment (to June 1997) is near. To meet the deadline, you must send a written request for an application by June 30, 2003 to the German Social Security authorities. Consult the Claims Conference Handbook on German Ghetto Pensions for the relevant addresses.

"German Pensions for Work in Ghettos: A Claims Conference Handbook" is available on the website of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, www.claimscon.org.

The handbook has information on eligibility for German Government Social Security payments for Holocaust survivors (or their spouses) who performed certain salaried or compensated labor in Nazi-occupied ghettos.

The Handbook is available in English, German, Hebrew, and Spanish.

The “Ghetto Pension” is not connected to payments for slave or forced labor under the German Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and the Future” and the Claims Conference Program for Former Slave or Forced Laborers. The Claims Conference is not involved in the administration, implementation or processing of Social Insurance pensions for the German government or its social security institutions
